THE STORY OF THIS PIECE
This genuine butter yellow sea glass necklace is a true ocean treasure. Yellow sea glass is exceptionally rare—estimated at 1 in 5,000 pieces found worldwide. Its origin? A nautical signal, perhaps… or a long-lost bitter bottle. We may never know, but we do know this piece was personally discovered while snorkeling in the warm Caribbean waters.
Tumbled naturally by the sea and left untouched except for a single expert drill, this one-of-a-kind piece measures approximately 10 x 20 mm. It's the only piece we've ever found large enough to become this type of choker in over five years of searching.
It comes paired with a 17" tarnish-resistant stainless steel serpentine chain, making it the perfect gift for sea glass collectors, ocean lovers, or anyone who appreciates the magic of the sea.

Why it’s rare:
Yellow glass was not commonly produced, especially in opaque or semi-opaque tones like "butter yellow." When it was used, it was often for:
Depression-era tableware
Old nautical signaling lenses
Some liqueur or bitters bottles, though these were usually more amber
Most commonly found shades: Pale translucent yellow is rare but not impossible in some coastal regions, whereas deep or milky butter yellow is extremely rare and almost always highly tumbled pieces like yours are prized by collectors.
